Role: Machinist
Location: Wilmington, MA, 01887 (Onsite)
Duration: 12 months (Temp – Permanent)
Shift: 9/80 Schedule; Start time 7 am (While in training); Regular schedule; 11 am – 8:30 pm (Mid Shift)
Pay Range: $48 – $52 per hour on W2
Job Description:
- Responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating and making tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic machines.
- Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
- Checks and inspects and builds machining operations against specified tolerances.
- May include work with fabrication, sheet metal operations, or machine hardware and assemblies.
- May also make recommendations concerning use of and improvement upon materials and design.
Responsibilities:
- Skilled Manual Machinist with High tolerance precision machining
- Work split shift with occasional weekend & on-call support availability.
- Pinning
- Ability to drill and ream pilot hole to tight tolerances (.0001” to .0003”) using portable drill set-up
- Create slip/sliding fits using provided precision dowel pins
- Ability to align and indicate drill tooling into position
- Use of Deltronic Pins for measuring
- Able to clean, deburr and polish mounting surfaces
- Assemble and disassemble mounting components
- Utilize tools such as a vacuum to eliminate FOD while drilling and reaming
- Proficient with set-up and operation or 3 Axis Milling Machines using Acu-Rite ( or equivalent ) controls for programming
- Proficient in the use of a manual lathe
- Perform jobs from start to finish following drawings
- Willingness to support other Manufacturing (non-Machine shop) needs as well.

Preferred Additional Skills:
- Lapping Experience
- Optical Handling Experience
- Space/Aerospace experience desired
- Computer Literacy – Microsoft Office product preferred (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Education & Experience:

- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
